Meet Brenda

Brenda Beery is a lifelong DeLand resident, DeLand High School graduate, and Stetson University alumna whose career has been rooted in education, leadership, and service to the West Volusia community. She began her professional life in public education, where she spent more than two decades serving students, teachers, and families across Volusia County schools — first as a classroom teacher and later as a school administrator.

Brenda attended Woodward Elementary, Blue Lake Elementary (when it first opened), Southwestern 7th Grade Center (now Southwestern Middle School), DeLand Junior High (now DeLand Middle School), and DeLand High School, later earning her degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Stetson University. That lifelong journey through DeLand schools led Brenda into a professional career in public education, where she spent more than two decades teaching and leading in West Volusia schools—and her family’s deep ties to local education span generations, with her stepchildren having graduated from DeLand High School and her daughters having graduated from University High School in Orange City.
